The VIVA returned to the UK's roads in summer 2015, more than 50 years after the first model rolled off the production line. Just like the old Viva but completely different, the new model combines the spirit of the original's lively character and value-for-money proposition with a striking, modern design.
That original was known as the Viva HA and with its 1057cc engine was produced between 1963 and 1966. The Viva HB followed in 1966 before the HC arrived in 1970. Production ended in 1979, but by then the compact Vauxhall was well established as a family favourite.
Vauxhall has come a long way since the first Viva but hasn't forgotten what made the early cars so popular. The new model has been designed for the modern motorist, and just like its predecessor it delivers economical driving, practicality and quality.
The distinctive five-door body blends sculpted panels with a purposeful stance and a friendly 'face'. Inside you'll find a spacious cabin with four audio speakers as standard, while premium materials stretching out across the dashboard, doors and seats add quality that belies the VIVA's price.
When you get behind the wheel, you'll discover the VIVA has just as much energy as its styling suggests.
The VIVA is definitely the city car to beat, and its return will be warmly welcomed by Britain's motorists.
